Gonna Get You

Gonna Get You

With the light from the street lamp flickering,
Stood a shadow in the woods,
Looking down the alley,
As if he was searching for something.

Staggering past the doors in the silence,
There was something about the night,
Giving him a sense of completion,
Waiting for the end of the road.

Like a beat cop searching for a crook,
Checking every intersection,
The shadow gliding towards the darkness,
Reaching for his pocket to grab something.

Observing the look in the eyes,
A silver dagger clasped in his hands,
Marching forward towards someone,
And like Poseidon thrusting his trident in his foe.

In one swift blow,
The silver of the dagger kissed the flesh,
With one down he moved forward,
Lurking past like a vulture looking for food.

Slowly his ghostly presence breaks the peace,
People looking for him on the street,
Yet in the darkness even the closest thing becomes invisible,
So does a shadow,

Outside a home, he stood,
Looking in the well-lit house,
Following her all the way,
Just to have a glance,

Like a spirit moving around,
For the one who forced him to fall,
Now with the daylight breaking,
He disappears leaving a sign behind,
Written in blood, as if shouting,
"I'm Gonna Get You".
